Diane L. MacDonald
M Ed, E-RYT200, RCYT, NLP CP
I began my yoga practice while living in the suburbs of Boston, raising my daughter, home schooling her and running an after school program. I discovered early in my practice the power of yoga to heal. I received my certification as a Children’s Yoga Instructor and Trainer and developed a program called Sensory YogaPlay – a sequence of yoga postures, breathing techniques and movement to support children with special needs – particularly those on the autism spectrum.
I am the Founder of A Woman Alive, an educational coaching company serving educators, individuals and businesses. My work as personal life transition coach serves a broad spectrum of individuals with a unique focus on serving parents and families coping with the challenges of raising special needs children and young adults. My broad range of education, skill and expertise allow me to bring the practice and benefits of yoga to all age groups including children, teens and adults. My passion is to support the connection and integration of my students’ experiences on the yoga mat to the journey of their daily lives.

As a child, my family would sing and dance around our small one-bedroom apartment. We weren’t wealthy but our play magically transformed the space into a beautiful ballroom or a majestic theater. I felt like I could fly. When you’re a kid, every movement can be filled with grace and joy and can enable us to experience that kind of transcendence. I believe yoga is a perfect way to harness our innate energy to increase self-awareness, confidence, health, positivity, and balance, while having FUN!
I am the Founder of Yo Re Mi, a music and yoga enrichment program for children in NYC. I co-lead the 200-hour RYT training at Sacred in Brooklyn. Also, I am a musician and the Co-Founder of Kale Records.

A skillful teacher is one who’s knowledge is vast but who has their finger on the pulse of a group to assess what approach is necessary at any given moment. Rachel Costello has this gift. She is personable, authentic and possesses a quiet strength. Her ability to bring a sense of ease and lightness to moments of challenge is a testament to her power. I found her assistance in Sacred Brooklyn’s 200 hour yoga teacher training truly invaluable!Stephanie Battle, Director of Teacher Training
